WB Begins Prepping TERMINATOR SALVATION 2,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
We already knew that Terminator Salvation was the first installment of a planned trilogy and that Christian Bale has been signed on as hero John Connor for all three films. Variety confirmed this morning that Halcyon Co. executives Derek Anderson and Victor Kubicek are developing a fifth installment of the franchise alongside McG,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], with the announcement coming out of the director at the Dubai International Film Festival.
The original plan was to confirm development of the next follow-up after the first film hits theaters on May 22,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 2009 but the positive studio,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], fan and media reaction to footage from the current pic has encouraged them to move forward ahead of schedule.
Warner Bros. is handling the domestic release of Terminator Salvation with Sony handling the majority of the rest of the world,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], with the exception of the Middle East where the film is being handled by Dubai-based Gulf Film.
No decision has been made yet on whether the fifth "Terminator" will be once again split by Warner Bros,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. and Sony,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
"Terminator" vidgame,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which has been developed inhouse through the Halcyon Games division,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], will be released day-and-date with the live action pic.

Well,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], to be fair for their decision here,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it's a tent pole action adventure which will hit theaters on Memorial Day 2009. Any action-adventure of this scope usually does well on that weekend and I'm sure Terminator Salvation will be no different. With that kind of box office debut date and the current excitement,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it seems a sure bet to be one of next summer's success stories.
Warner Bros. as a whole will have a successful 2009 at the box office. Looking at their more anticipated releases,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the studio should have a positive year.
