Know the Positions in Basketball
The three basketball positions normally used by organized basketball teams are guard, forward, and center. More specifically, they can be classified into five positions: point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward,Duvetica Sale, and center.
The rules of basketball do not mandate them, and in informal games they are often not assigned. But in organized and professional leagues the five positions are often followed to give a team balance.
The point guard (PG), also known as the number "1", is the team's general and the best ball handler on the floor. In football terminology,デュベティカダウンジャケット, the point guard is like a basketball team's "quarterback."
The point guard is essentially the team's captain, and his job is to increase the team's efficiency by handing out assists. Some of the greatest point guards in the NBA throughout the last 10 years include Jason Kidd, Allen Iverson and Steve Nash.
The shooting guard (SG),duvetica jackets canada online outlet, also known as the number "2", is usually the team's best shooter. The shooting guard can also be the team captain as well.
A quality shooting guard must be able to consistently hit long jump shots as well as shorter shots. Besides being able to shoot the ball, new kevin durant shoes 2012, shooting guards must also have good ball-handling skills because they have to be able to create their own shots off the dribble.
Finally, they should also be able to make good passes. As much of the defense's attention will be focused on them, they need to find open teammates so that the team does well as a whole.
The shooting guard needs to be able to take long-shots,Duvetica Piumini italy, around the three-point line. This is because there will be much tighter defense inside the key, and so the shooting guard needs to learn how to get free for his shots.
Typical NBA shooting guards are 6 feet 3 inches to 6 feet 7 inches. However, there are exceptions - for instance, Allen Iverson,http://cheapnikesoccercleatsmercurial.webmium.com/, who plays point guard and shooting guard, is only 6 feet tall.
The small forward (SF),Duvetica Down Jackets Duvetica Women for sale, also known as the number "3",duvetica down jackets men sale, is typically somewhat shorter, quicker, and leaner than the bigger power forwards and centers. In the NBA, small forwards range from 6 feet 5 inches to 6 feet 11 inches.
The small forward position is considered to be perhaps the most versatile of the five basketball positions, due to the nature of its role, cheap nike soccer cleats mercurial Discount Soccer Cleats Clearance Cleats, which is sometimes similar to that of a power forward,http://duveticaoutletcanada.halod.com/, but other times more resembles the role of a shooting guard. The small forward and shooting guard positions are often interchangeable.
Small forwards have a variety of weapons, such as quickness and strength inside. One common skill shared by all kinds of small forwards is the ability to "get to the line" - that is, have opposing players be called for committing shooting fouls against them.
Fouls are frequently called on the defense when offensive players take the ball hard to the basket and aggressively attempt post-up plays, lay-ups,Moncler Weste Billig Moncler Jacken Outlet Moncler Outlet Österreich, or slam dunks. Therefore,DUVETICA Piumini Italy Vendita Duvetica Online Duvetica Sale Duvetica Coats Shop, accurate foul shooting is an imperative skill for small forwards,デュベティカ 激安, many of whom record a large number of their points from the foul line.
Small forwards should be able to do a little bit of everything on the court. Their play often makes the difference for their team in almost every game, merrell shoes on sale for men.
Also known as the "4" position and abbreviated as "PF",duvetica outerwear, the power forward plays a role similar to that of a center, down in the "post" or "low blocks". On offense, he can "post up", playing with his back to the basket, or set up for mid-range jump shots.
On defense, he plays under the basket in a zone defense or against the opposing power forward in man-to-man defense. Typical NBA power forwards are 6 feet 9 inches to 6 feet 11 inches tall, though some power forwards, like the 6 feet 5 inches Charles Barkley, have compensated for a lack of height with exceptional bulk and strength.
The center (C), also referred to as the number "5", usually plays near the baseline, close to the basket (referred to as the "bottom of the key" or the "low post"). The tallest player is most likely to be assigned to the position of center, with typical NBA centers being around 7 feet in height.
