Legendary animation hero Bruce Timm is at it again. This time Timm and crew are giving 'Wonder Woman' her first full-length movie. Those are some tough shoes to fill,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], does it live up to the hype or does it fall flat? I caught a screening of the new animated feature at New York City Comic-Con.
The film presents Wonder Woman origin story,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], from birth until full incarnation as the Wonder of a Woman we now know. The result is a very cohesive and highly entertaining story. All the loose ends that are created in the beginning are tied up at the end,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], don look for any cliffhangers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they not there. This film is also genuinely funny,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], not in a campy,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], laugh-at-it-not-with-it way,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but in a burst out laughing way.
This is a rare find in PG films,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], something Pixar but few others specialized in. Mike Jelenic does it,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and does it with style. Serious Wonder Woman fans shouldn fret though. The humor doesn dilute her origin story in the least.
Keri Russell stars as the Amazon heroine. Her voice acting played much more contemporary then the other Amazons,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], making her stand out from the crowd. This might not have been intentional,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but it certainly works well. Every other voice actor in the film fits his or her role. As one would expect. The Amazons are majestic and strong sounding. Timm and crew really put in the extra effort with this one. Even in a scene with thousands of characters and fast paced action there was still a high level of detail. The audio also seemed quite clean,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but because of NYCC audio system it was ear-bleedingly loud.
