Hard Drive Showing 300 GB in XP but 137 GB in BIOS
Now I see that it is indeed some kind of hard drive issue, and I figured since I've gotten forget about replies in my other topic I'd post it here.
So does which means that I'll have to split hard drive up,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]? What should I do using the 100 GB or so I have already about the hard disk (could it be safe to split the hard drive using the remaining space or no?)
may be the drive in question a slave drive or your primary master drive ??????
is backing up the contents in your 300 gig drive to another drive a possibility for you ??????
the 137 gig barrier is a or windows 7 limitation that is easily overcome by installing service pack-2 for your current OS (free download at windows update site )
if you say your bios reports your drive as a 300 gig drive your bios isn't the entity with the "glitch" its your OS
but,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]; please consider the practical nature of partitioning your drive into smaller chunks / their is NO benefit to have one huge 300 gig partition / if you screw up that partition then poof goes all data and progs / should you partition the drives into multiple chunks (say 100 gigs each) that will give you a redunant oppurtunity to create data back-ups (even though premiere back-up is multiple drives !!!)
if I were inside your shoes I'd definetly partition the drive into chunks / add sp-2 to your current OS first though,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
when you look in the disk mangement what are you seeing now ,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]??????
I apoligize now if I'm rambling / you will find soooo several choices and so many different ways of perfroming those options; it might be difficult to attempt to you know what perscription will suit a person the best and explain the execution from it inside a palletable form.
please dont hesitate to inquire about questions
i dont believe you can add partitions on a drive from inside windows after you have begun the entire process of data placement / their are third party partition managers that can do this type of task however I dont reccomend them for the average user and especailly in the event that information is vital that you you, its common place to lose data while leanring how to use Third party (other than windows or computer makers utilities) partition manager software.
I would choose the bios upgrade without a doubt !! There is a excellent chance which will solve all your problems,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
give us your motherboard model and that i;ll try to enable you to discover the bios file and instructions required to improve your bios.
Thanks guys. Firstly,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], how do you check what type of PSU I've already (simply to ensure whether I need a new one or not)? because after i got my new case I'm nearly positive I got a brand new Power to choose it, however it am long ago,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I don't remember.
Secondly, on the related subject,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], after i installed the IDE Card,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I figured I needed to get a new floppy disk drive since mine was broken and unused for quite a while (I later found I could just download the drivers). It seems when I got the drive, I'm missing the ability cable required for the floppy drive. What kind of cord am I searching for,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I can not think it is at Newegg.
