Friedrichshafen to Fonzaso – More Than Just A Bike Ride! The Challenge – Ride 470km from Friedrichshafen, Germany to Fonzaso, Italy in one day!Passing through 5 countries, 2 prominent climbs – the Fluela Pass (2,400m) and the Ofen Pass (2,138m) with plenty of pedalling in between! Steve Smith, Sportful Brand Manager,[url=http://www.belstaffbelstaff.net/topichtml/belstaff-quilted.html]belstaff quilted[/url], is a man whose opinion is held in high regard, a driving force behind the brand…So when he suggested working EuroBike in Friedrichshafen and riding back to the Sportful HQ in Fonzaso, Italy we all said yes… without hesitation! What were we thinking!!Steve’s analogy of comparing the experience to a 5-day stage race was apt? – The first 4 days were as physically exhausting as the last! 4am Sunday morning saw our intrepid little group roll out, excited, nervous and sleep deprived. Without exception we were all feeling the effects of EuroBike.Lights switched on, the ride began… we would pass through 4 countries before sunrise, with each border crossing, a small cheer, knowing we were making good progress.The Fluelapass the first real test of the day, the up-wards incline would begin some 65km before the summit. In terms of scenery, it’s spectacular and encapsulated the very reason for riding.The Ofen Pass followed; the descent was near perfect, a collection of sweeping turns in quick succession,[url=http://www.motorcyclejacketmall.com/topichtml/belstaff-leather-trousers.html]belstaff leather trousers[/url], all riders synchronized, banking bikes over simultaneously,[url=http://www.belstaffbelstaff.net/topichtml/baseball-jackets.html]baseball jackets[/url], travelling at high speed… it was pretty cool!As a group we would all have our low points, some more so than others, suffering is one thing when you’re close to home but when there’s 200km’s left, it’s another story all together! Words of encouragement and a strong mental resolve would keep the pedals turning… We all shared the same goal.A myriad of bike paths intersected the Ofen Pass and Trento, our last feed stop of the day. It seemed almost fitting that lightning filled the skies and marked our route home. An epic ride would soon have “epic weather” the last 60km were rain drenched. Fortunately we work for a company that produces particularly good apparel :-)Throughout the ride we were supported by Sportful Brand Communication Manager Daniel Loots and good friend, Deb Malin. Positive words and a mountain of sandwiches, made by the Steve, the previous night kept the wheels turning.We would finally reach the Sportful HQ in Fonzaso at 12:30am with 17hrs of ride time on the clock.On our arrival we were met by the Cremonese family and many employees of the Sportful brand. This was something special for all involved, so it was fantastic to share with good friends.The prosecco flowed and stories began… we’re still talking about this ride and I think we’ll be doing for some time.
