Roller Shoes Injuring Kids
Finally someone sees that these Heely's are dangerous and bothersome to people who are trying to grocery shop and there kids flying past you with basically with skates on,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. I have two children and they both wanted those shoes but I wouldn't buy them because shoes are supposed to be made for walking or running not skating. Do you know that Heey's cost about $70.00 to $100,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].00 I personally if I'm going to spend that kind of money on shoes it will be something my kids can ware all time. Those shoes are also very heavy can't be good for children to carry that extra weight on there feet. BAND Heely's atleast from shopping centers!
There's lots of people spooked by these shoes. I'm 37,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and have been heeling for the last 4 years. It's phenomenal in airports when you've only got a few minutes to try to make a connecting flight. And most parking lots as well. Granted that it takes some patience while you're learning to "get the hang of it", but after becoming proficient I find it to be an excellent timesaver. Don't be fooled with how simple it looks, it ends up being moderate exercise. You can really only go maybe 50% faster than walking on most sidewalks due to all the cracks. In Wal-Mart or Costco where there's a nice surface you can get up to about twice walking speed in an 100% safe manner. I walk 100% in the busy sections at the front of the store or aisle intersections,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and heel in the empty aisles to make my way to the back of the store.(Seems like everything you really want is always in the back of the store,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], right?) It really is 100% safe. I've never run into anyone.
The #1 question I get asked when I'm heeling: "wow,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], where did you find a pair in your size?" They're available on eBay or at Mervyn's and Big 5 sports. Remember that there's a significant learning curve involved here,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and you'll build up ankle muscles you never knew you had. But after you're practiced up,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it's an excellent way to get around.
For all those naysayers: with something that's currently this popular with the youth, and has the potential to make the everyday commute easier, there's a good possiblity that it won't die out like the hoola-hoop. I expect that in another decade these heely-proficient youth will still use the shoes to get around. I recommend going out and trying it for yourself to see what all the fuss is about before you blindly try to get the shoes blacklisted.

Not all parents are going to teach their kids responsibility when it comes to proper use of these shoes. That is what's wrong with kids today, too many parents are concerned with being their kids friends instead of being a parent and looking out for their best interest. That's basically what they are. But please teach them that there is a time and place for using them for purposes other than walking. Having to go shopping is stressful enough without having to almost get knocked over. Unless you're my two year old cousin who DID get knocked over in the store because some mother let her child just skate through the store unattended.
To Taylor Simpson, yes that is what I think and everyone has a right to there own opinon. But it's not the kids fault they don't know how to use them it's the parents not teaching kids to respect others in public places. And if kids have Heely's they should do it in proper places. I have to children and they love to skate they are on a inline speed team but they skate at the skating rink not in stores. I just feel that they are dangerous because parents don't pay there kids any attention and they either get hurt or run into someone. So maybe don't band Heely's but atleast parents teach your children safety and take your childern somewhere more appropriate. Thank you very much!!!!

No big deal that kids are breaking their bones and one death.
Do you have any idea how many kids go to the emergency room from bicycle accidents? How many children have been killed riding a bicycle? So should we ban all bicycle usage? It is not always the toy that is so dangerous, it is the operator. I agree that there is a time an a place for Heely's but I have been injured in a shopping environment buy kids just running (no skates) and by pushing shopping carts. One shopping cart caused me three stiches that a child was pushing while running. The bottom line is parent supervision on anything kids do.
To "Finally enough". Take a chill pill lady. Theres right and wrong ways to use millions of differnt kinds of products. As long as kids are in proper places with proper supervision let them live life to the fullest. Sure Heely's can break bones and cause death. Swimming in a kiddy pool can cause death or injury too; if you don't teach your kids to swim and ignore them, they'll drown. That motto should go for the Heely's or whaterver. It's not the Heely's causeing accidents, it's the lack of parenting that is causing these acidents. I agree with Carrie's quote aswell.

Taylor, bless your heart,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I'm sure that you are a nice kid, but, judging by your post, you need to spend a little more time studying your grammar, spelling,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and punctuation. Every time I see a child on Heelys, I am frightened that they will injure themselves or others. Frankly, if my children were still at home,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], there is no way they would ever have a pair of these things.
My daughter begged me for these darn things. I said NO. Kids are NOT careful. I've almost been run down in the mall by kids wearing these things.
Further,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as a parent of 3 (soon to be 4), I am fully aware that you cannot keep your eyes on your kids 100% of the time. Anyone who says otherwise is so full of shlt. I can't stand reading these posts from people who claim to be such good parents (PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR KIDS). I do pay attention to my kids, and I make decisions that are in their best interests. thus, I will not purchase heelys.
Stop being so judgmental of other parents. You don't know that they aren't paying attention. Accidents happen, and accidents will happen when you let your kids have access to dangerous toys.
