Club make seniors' lives more fulfilling,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
55+ Club homeless! How sad is that? In 2001 I moved in with my Mom so she could stay in her home. Over the years I have watched the joy and happiness the New Glasgow 55+ Club has brought her. On a weekly basis Mom would attend the 45 card game,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the Skip Bo card group,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the bingo,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and the Sunday night card games. Knowing each and every week she had these things to attend made her life more meaningful and fulfilling.
On many occasions I went to the club to pick up Mom and they would be gathered around the card tables having a cup of tea and a sweet, and the laughter from the people attending could be heard immediately upon opening the door. Over the years I would get to hear about the guest speakers they had,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or the dance that was coming up,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or the potluck supper they were going to have. To think that all of this will becoming to an end saddens me,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], not only for my Mom but for all those other people out there who use the club on a regular basis.
Yes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I read that the membership involves seniors from all over Pictou County and New Glasgow doesn't want to give them a home anymore. Do you know why the membership is from all over the county? It is because the group is so awesome,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and it offers so many wonderful things to the seniors. It would be fantastic if the town of New Glasgow stepped up and helped the most worthy citizens of their town. Please help the club president Lola Patterson find a suitable home so that in the months to come I can hear my Mom talk with excitement about the wonderful events the new 55+ Club is having. If you lose this club New Glasgow,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and it shuts down it will be a very sad day in Pictou County for almost 200 of your senior citizens. Those seniors deserve to have a place where they will be safe and warm to socialize well into their 60s,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 70s,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 80s and 90s. Yes folks,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I even know a lady who is in her 90s and attends on a weekly basis. Please do the proper thing here,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], we will all be in their shoes some day,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and the 55+ Club makes those shoes a whole lot nicer to wear.
